Preschoolers, rejoice! It’s time for a real-life Peppa Pig party!
The public can now visit the Peppa Pig Theme Park. The vibrant theme park-meets-playground is ideal for any Peppa Pig fan and their family. It is designed for children aged 6 and under.
Guests enter the theme park, which is located at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, through a massive rainbow gate and are instantly immersed in Peppa’s world. Play areas such as the Muddy Puddles Splash Pad, which is filled with sprouting fountains and slippery slides, and Rebecca Rabbit’s Playground, a large open space filled with swings, climbing equipment, and other activities, provide plenty of space for energetic preschoolers to run and explore.
“I feel like every single parent on the way home from Peppa Pig Theme Park will have that adorable picture of the kid passed out in the car seat because this is just such a beautiful park with interaction everywhere,” says Kelly Hornick, head of marketing and communications at LEGOLAND Florida Resort and Peppa Pig Theme Park. “The little ones get a day just for them here: the entire park is really designed with them in mind.”
The six specially designed rides for children scattered throughout the park only add to the fun.
There’s Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride, a hot air balloon ride in the sky with a view of the entire park. Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Adventure allows children to wrangle a dinosaur and ride it along a prehistoric trail. And, on Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster, kids and adults alike will enjoy a fun, fast-paced ride in Daddy Pig’s red car to Peppa’s house.
According to Nick Miller, the resort’s director of operations, the coaster, which travels only 14 feet in the air and at a maximum speed of 16 miles per hour, is ideal for a child’s first roller coaster.
The coaster “has two laps and a really low height requirement — just 36 inches,” Miller says. “We really designed it for the kids, but I’m hearing that their parents are enjoying it as well. It’s the ideal’my first roller coaster’ ride for kids.”
There are plenty of ways to relax after a morning of playing, whether it’s digging for buried treasure in sand pits loaded with shovels or playing free carnival-style games at the Fun Fair.
At Miss Rabbit’s Diner, children can order classics like macaroni and cheese or cheese pizza, while parents can order meals designed for adults, such as a smoked brisket sandwich or a rice and veggie bowl with chicken. And the whole family can cool off with sweet treats like the Muddy Puddles Milkshake, a chocolate shake topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cookie, or the Mud Cup, the park’s take on classic dirt cake.
Does your child need a break from all the fun and action?
The Cinema is a cool, dark space filled with massive bean bags that can easily accommodate an entire family. Peppa Pig episodes are shown on a large screen while families relax and enjoy a break from the Florida heat.
The enormous bean bags reappear on the lawn of Mr. Potato’s Showtime Arena, where shows featuring Peppa Pig and her younger brother George in fuzzy character form take place throughout the day.
It’s also possible to meet Peppa and George. As they spend the entire day at the theme park waving and talking to visitors. They also pose for photographs.
Hornick, a mother of two preschoolers, claims that the entire park was created with young children in mind.
“This park is about the ultimate day of adventure for a preschooler,” says Hornick. “We want every family to have the most wonderful day ever.”
With the addition of Peppa Pig Theme Park to LEGOLAND Florida Resort, the resort is now a multi-day destination. On-site attractions include the LEGOLAND Theme Park, the LEGOLAND Water Park, and the Peppa Pig Theme Park, as well as three hotels that Hornick describes as “awesomely themed.”
“We’re Florida’s first preschooler theme park, which is really exciting,” says Hornick. “When you look at what LEGOLAND Florida has to offer, you’ll notice that we’ve really nailed the 2–12-year-old demographic. We’ve seen older kids get excited about the attractions at LEGOLAND Florida, but we saw this as an excellent opportunity to bring in the younger ones.”
The park is also intended to include all children. The entire LEGOLAND Florida Resort recently became a Certified Autism Center after partnering with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). Staff at the park took classes to learn how to be more sensitive and aware of people with autism in order to obtain the accreditation.
“Through the collaboration, we also had IBCCES rank all of the attractions against the five senses,” Hornick explains. “Different levels on the autism spectrum may mean you have an aversion to certain sights, smells, or sounds — every child is a little bit different — so having these tools and the ranks for each of the five senses at these attractions allows parents to have that information in advance and plan out their day based on how their child may react.”
In addition to placards at each ride’s entrance, information ranking each experience based on how it affects each of the senses will be available on the park’s website and app.
The park has also made efforts to make it wheelchair accessible. The Muddy Puddles Splash Pad is wheelchair accessible, and Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride has a gondola large enough for children in wheelchairs to roll onto the attraction without having to transfer.
Single-day tickets to Peppa Pig Theme Park cost slightly more than $30 if purchased in advance online. Admission can also be combined with admission to the LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park, which starts at $135. Annual passes are also available.
Hornick, who can’t wait to bring her own children to the theme park, believes the addition to LEGOLAND Florida Resort will allow families to spend even more time creating memories at the destination.
“Peppa Pig Theme Park is this beautiful blend of attractions you dream about as a kid, the ones you would stand in line for, but also the playgrounds where there are no lines and you can just have fun and be a kid,” she says. Our kids, especially lately, just want to get outside, be with their families, and have fun, and this park is the perfect place for them to do so.”
